Seeing the Blind Spots: A Consultation Group for Examining White Therapists' Privilege
In this consultation group we will examine White Privilege and how that is present in the room with clients of same and different racial and cultural identities. By definition, those that are privileged often don't see, or can lose conscious awareness of their privilege, in a way that those who are not privileged cannot. Group members will examine their privilege not only as white skinned clinicians, but also other areas where they hold privilege or area where they are not privileged, and this intersectionality. In this consultation group, we will be creating a group of up to 10 clinicians committed to working together monthly, for six sessions, with the guidance of Jane Ariel, PhD, MFT, who is a teacher, author, and specialist in working with professionals and cultural awareness and competence.
