What Every Therapist Needs To Know About Advocating For Your ADHD Child, Teen, and Adult Clients

This workshop will discuss how psychiatrists, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, social workers, educational therapists and other clinicians can do to help advocate for their ADHD clients. We will discuss 504 plans and IEPs for children and teenagers and how these accommodations extend into college and graduate school. Holly Seerley will also comment on accommodations for clients in the workplace. This workshop will prepare you to advocate for your clients in school and work settings and help introduce you to resources to support you in advocating for your clients.
Holly Seerley, MA, MFT has been in private practicesince 1979 and has spoken for professionals, adults and youth on topics ranging from spirituality, mindfulness, AD/HD, Non Verbal Learning Disorder, affect regulation, self-regulation, executive functioning deficits, and utilizing counter-transference to better understand and work with clients. Holly values working collaboratively & proactively to utilize information & curiosity to change default and learned stories about self, others and life, to develop new skills to enjoy closeness and conflict, and to improve relationships within families, communities and inside themselves. Holly’s List, an email list of local events on AD/HD and learning disabilities/differences is a public service to give back to the community to make the journey of learning and life easier for the current and next generations of different learners.
Holly is currently Vice President, Board of Directors, Star Academy, a CHADD volunteer facilitating a monthly parent group, organizing speakers series, teaching the Parent to Parent Workshops, and a speaker. Previously she has been President, Association of Family Therapists of Northern California, President, Board, Marin Child Abuse Prevention Council.
